Bologna e Figli

1848 is a year full of important events for the future of Piedmont and all of Italy. It is also the year in which the Bologna family winery was founded. In 1785, the first vines were planted on the best, sun-drenched hills with enormous effort. The locations for each variety were selected with the greatest care. The love of nature and the absolute will to produce top wines soon guaranteed strong, fruity red wines that are still appreciated worldwide today. Our job has been and continues to be to prepare culinary delights at the table for 6 generations. With the knowledge of this past and the feeling for wine, we refine our grapes every year and find modern flavor combinations.

The owners of the winery are Chiara & Bernhard Bauer-Bologna.

The Bologna winegrower family, in picturesque Piedmont, has been producing high-quality wine for generations and has been working for years on combining the core product of wine with all the pleasures that a "good life" can offer. From the core product of wine to tastings, wine tours in Piedmont, truffle culinary events and wine bottling tours, right through to barrel participation. The Bologna family strives to offer its customers and guests a unique experience. So what could be more natural than to offer the family's way of life in the traditional Rocchetta Tanaro near Turin, with its Barberas, Barolos, Nebbiolos and truffles, to friends and product buyers of the house. This idea gave rise to the "Buona Vita" holiday apartment project on the property of the winery in the area of the traditional winery. Between our family home and the winery we have built beautiful apartments for you, which we would be happy to arrange for you. We would be happy to show you our surroundings. If you wish, we can help you with restaurant visits, winery tours, truffle hunting and adventure tips. You can find more information under wine tours.

Chiara

Chiara, the sixth generation, is the first woman in the Bologna family to make running the winery and all the tasks that come with it her life's work. At the age of 19, she studied languages and economics at the Catholic University of Milan and obtained her diploma as a sommelier of the highest rank from the "Associazione Italiana Sommelier di Milano" in order to uphold her father's legacy.

With a lot of patience and good will, she was able to create one of the best Barberas from the "hard soil" of Piedmont, which can proudly bear the DOCG seal. The family (Chiara, Bernhard and the three youngest sons Lorenzo, Leonardo and Valerio), the love of her work, the friends and valued customers and the indescribably adventurous life have made Chiara the unique and beloved person she is today, with a lot of humor, wisdom and a laugh that is contagious to everyone.

Her philosophy is “A day without laughter is a wasted day.”

Bernhard

Bernhard Bauer In 1995, enchanted by the charm of my now wife Chiara, I came to the Bologna winery as a newcomer. Until 2000, I looked after sales outside of Italy. The main focus was Austria, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg. Through tastings, truffle culinary events and various wine-related events, we managed to attract a large customer base. When Donatella and Gil Bologna withdrew from the winery in 2000, we took over the traditional business. Since then, I have also been responsible for vinification, i.e. preparing the wine. With the greatest care and love and a reduction in our wine range, a new era began for our winery. Since 2007, we have mainly produced our favourite wine, Barbera. Concentration on one product is the secret of our success. Since 2014, we have produced some spectacular cuvées based on Barbera. We are proud to mention the Più di Uno and the InaMera. In 2019 we will launch our Tentazione, which is produced in the Barolo style.
